(The Harwood Institute for Public Innovation)How are we going to marshal the collective will
necessary to tackle the complex public issues
facing our society and achieve the dream of Dr.
King when so many people have retreated into
their close-knit circles of family and friends?
That is the question Rich addressed
across the country last fall as part of his
tour to share the message of his latest book,
Hope Unraveled: The People's Retreat and Our
Way Back.
The tour officially wrapped
up in December, but because of the overwhelming
support from people across the country who are
tired of business as usual and are yearning to
find the path back into public life, the tour
has been expanded to include several important
locations this spring.
Here is a
rundown of what is scheduled so far:
- Feb. 8-9: Rich will be speaking at
the National Conversation on the
Emerging Mind of Community Journalism in
Aniston, AL. The event is being sponsored by
the Knight Fellows in Community Journalism at
the University of Alabama.
- Feb. 16: Rich is the featured
speaker at the prestigious Commonwealth Club in San
Francisco, CA.
- March 14: Public speech at the LBJ Presidential Library in
Austin, TX.
- March 22: Public speech at the New Hampshire Institute of
Politics, Saint Anselm College, Manchester,
NH.
- March 24: Speech to community
leaders in Orlando, FL, associated with the
Count Me In! Reconnecting Communities and
Schools Initiative.

Government, University of Georgia, Athens,
GA.

Annual Conference in Chicago,
