Learn how to use community rhythms to accelerate your work: Join us at the Public Innovators Lab

Monday, March 6, 2006

(The Harwood Institute for Public Innovation)Community rhythms is just one of a number of frameworks The Harwood Institute has developed through its work to help people and organizations gain a deep understanding of community life and thus, how to be effective agents for change.

How can you gauge your community's rhythms, why is it important, and how can you align your work so that it takes full advantage of your community's Stage of Community Life? These are the kinds of questions we will explore, together, in our Harwood Public Innovators Lab.

The Harwood Public Innovators is organized into a series of modules based on core Harwood frameworks. The modules include content such as:

  • Understanding community rhythms
  • Public alignment: How to create strategies that will work for your community
  • The 3 A's of Public Life: Re-thinking your definitions of authority, authenticity, and accountability
  • Characteristics of civic-minded organizations that not only are effective at their missions, but simultaneously build community
  • Public capital: the building blocks of community
  • Harnessing civic engagement: the principles of meaningful engagement and a deeper understanding of how people naturally talk about issues
If you want to understand how communities work at a fundamental level and create strategies that lead to real, lasting change, then you should come to The Harwood Public Innovators Lab May 21-25 in Baltimore, Md. As of now, the Lab is more than half full, and because we purposefully keep it small to have more time for one-on-one interactions, that means there very few seats remaining.

If you would like to join us, we encourage you and a colleague to sign up today.
