Public Radio's "The Exchange," interviewed Rich
Harwood for her live call-in show. The topic:
"cultural withdrawal."
During the
interview, Rich drew on findings from his book,
Hope Unraveled: The People's Retreat and Our
Way Back (Kettering Foundation Press,
2005), to argue that we not a nation divided,
but rather, a nation in retreat from politics
and public life. This retreat has enormous
implications for how all of us must conduct
ourselves in the public square if we are to
forge a new pathway for moving forward and
re-engaging as a society.
