Harwood and Fast Company present The Annual Public Innovators Summit
Monday, April 24, 2006
(The Harwood Institute for Public Innovation)Today, The Harwood Institute is announcing one
of its most ambitious endeavors to date - the
Annual Public Innovators Summit. The Summit,
set for Aug. 18-20 at the Zermatt Resort &
Spa, Midway, Utah, is being presented in
partnership with Fast Company magazine.
Fast Company is one of America's most
well-known and prestigious media publications,
focusing primarily on innovative people and
ideas, in both the for-profit and non-profit
sectors.
The Annual Public Innovators
Summit is an invitation-only event of
America’s best and brightest public
innovators. These individuals – a collection
of nonprofit leaders, major philanthropists,
social entrepreneurs, businessmen and women,
public officials, educators, and faith leaders,
will come together to wrestle with some of the
most challenging issues facing our society. The
format itself will be innovative, with invited
guests leading discussions, speaking, and in
some cases, driving the agenda itself.
Some, but not all, of the issues that
may be discussed include:
- What, at the core of public life, is
stalling progress that we must address – and
how can we overcome those barriers?
- What conditions must be present and what
conditions do we need to address to spread new
innovation in public life today?
- What kinds of pathways are needed for people to re-engage in public life, and what characteristics must they possess?
“Fast Company magazine is thrilled to participate in the inaugural Public Innovators Summit,” executive editor Keith H. Hammonds said. “We believe in the power of passionate and creative individuals with great ideas to make powerful change in all spheres. This effort to jumpstart innovation and engagement in civic life is truly important to us.”
Invitations will be mailed out to in the next week. Space this is limited, but Harwood hopes to expand the event in subsequent years. More information on the Summit can be found on the Institute’s Web site.
