The week of the inaugural Annual Public Innovators Summit is here! Beginning on Friday, August 18th until Sunday, August 20th, a dynamic group of leading-edge thinkers and community leaders from around the country will meet in Utah to discuss the essence of challenges in public life. Rich is counting on it being a very exhilarating, rewarding, and fun weekend for all who are involved. Along with The Harwood Institute, the Summit is being co-sponsored by Fast Company Magazine and made possible by a grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
The Summit is based on Rich’s conversations with people across the country that tell him they’re in search of spaces where they can think deeply about fundamental ways to create change and authentic hope in their public work. The format of the weekend is not a conference, but more of a guided conversation. At the Summit, topics intended for discussion, among others, relate to what it means to genuinely operate as part of the community, how we move beyond pockets of innovation in public life, and what a culture for the public good looks like in an era of MySpace? Rich wants to provide enough focus to give the conversation direction, while also leaving enough room for creativity and innovation to emerge.
The goal is for the Summit to become an annual event where leaders come to think through important challenges they’re facing, re-focus their efforts, and re-energize, and that the knowledge that comes out of the Summit will help accelerate the work that we’re all trying to do to improve public life and politics.
