(The Harwood Institute for Public Innovation)Hurricane Katrina and 9/11: When is charity good, but change required?

  • In what ways do we tend to confuse charity and targeted programs with real change -- and how do we ensure that, in our work and as a society, we aren't lulled to sleep by charitable efforts when change is actually required?
  • What has been your experience with attempts at making systemic change, and where do you need to place yourself in order to exert real leverage -- especially when conditions for change aren't always ripe?
  • What would it mean to shift our mindset and language from charity to change?

Please share with us your thoughts and reflections at mailto:%20rharwood@theharwoodinstitute.org
